Welcome to Week 6! Can you believe we are more than half way through the term!! This week is another very busy week. On Wednesday the 5th March we will be celebrating Ash Wednesday. Our class will be taking part in a litrugy in the church at 10am. We will be making and eating pancakes this Tuesday as we remenber Shrove Tuesday. The Year 6 children are selling pancakes to raise money for Caritas. These will be sold at first break.
In Literacy this week the class will commence writing their own Fairy Tale. This is the genre we have been working on this term. Our Phonic focus is on the long vowel sound E - as is "e", "ee", "ea", "e_e", and our Grammar foucus is on creating compound sentences.
In Maths we will be spending more time on our mental maths strategies. The class have been working on their knowledge of doubles and near doubles and timing how quickly we can add them up correctly in our head.
The children will also be looking at 2D shapes and modeling numbers to 100.
This week the class will be introduced to our History Unit on the Logan Area. We will be going on an excursion at the end of the term as a part of this subject. More details will follow soon.
Please remember we are collecting donations for Caritas during this Lenten Season. Our class will be hosting the Parish Mass next Wednesday the 12th March at 9am. We would love to see you there....
Enjoy your week.
Kind regards,
Felicity Pryer
